Origin: Throughout West Africa (from Liberia to Angola, eastward to Central Africa)
Color: Initially pink, Sapele darkens in time to a deep red-brown.
Characteristics: The glossy stripes typical of Sapele, flat slicing yields veneer with a flowery structure. Sapele enables a room to have an exotic touch of African atmosphere; can also be used as an intentional contrast to modern elements.
Application: In the furniture, door and paneling sector, the classical flat- and quarter-sliced veneer is used. Sapele is an interesting alternative to light-colored oak and beech flooring in the parquet sector.
